When is the best time to take newborn photos?

October 24, 2022

Ideally it is best to book newborn photos for around 10 days after birth. If you are considering baby photos check your photographer’s availability for this time as soon as you can.

One question is popping up the most since I began offering newborn photography:

When is it best to book a newborn photo shoot?

Now, my answer to this is firstly – book it in while you are still pregnant.

Why? Because, believe me it is very likely to be forgotten or put aside once you are knee deep in the wonderful blur that is newborn life.

So, check in with me now if you want to gauge availability. Keep in mind that although we will ‘book’ you for ten days post-EDD, this date is not set in stone. It will be moved forward or back depending when baby actually makes their arrival earthside. You may also just feel like you need a little extra time to settle into your new normal before having photos taken.

A baby photo shoot with me is all about capturing the love, and what your new life together looks like. To capture you in this state of flux and change as you navigate the dreamy days together.

There is nothing quite so special as having a new baby in your home.

You are falling in love – but not only with your baby, also this new version of your partner. You are experiencing emotions you have never felt before, and have been looking forward to for months. You are past the finish line, while simultaneously having just launched yourselves off the starting block.

This is it, this is the best time to have newborn photos taken.
